Happy New Year

Early, early morning (or late, late night, depending on how you look at it) on January 1st, 2003. I almost made two mistakes in typing that. The predictible one (wanting to type 2002; I'll be doing that for weeks), and wanting to type December. Prolly cause I'm awfully tired. But the NYE party was great. I didn't get to experience a lot of it, because I was DJing for a great portion of it, but I had fun doing that, too. I hope I did okay at it. Or at least offended everyone's musical sensibilities in equal share.

Looking back, it was a trying year. I think the party was cathartic for more than a few people. I hope they got what they needed from it; or at least had a good time. I haven't done much reflection yet, I think I'll need some quiet time for that. But I am hopeful for the coming year.

Part of me wants to rebel against the notion that The New Year is anything different: time is a continuum, one moment flows into the next, today is a day like any other. But I also know that chapters end, and new ones begin, and that closure can be a good thing. (There are things that I still need to get closure on, but I don't know how yet.)

Best wishes for a healthy and prosperous year for all that happen to read this.
