Yesterday, I heard a friend describe someone else as having "centrist leanings." I thought that was amusing.

I'm a little disappointed that now that Measure 28 has failed, so many public agencies and representatives thereof are taking the "we can't do anything, our hands are tied" tack. Does anyone else remember Measure 5? This is exactly the same rhetoric that Barbara Roberts was spewing before she figured out that she needed to make the state government use its resources a little more efficiently. I wonder how long it will be before our current administration figures that out.

(Do we really need to be building a multi-million dollar "cultural center" when we claim that we can't keep the kids in school or convicts in jail?)

Anyway, I did my first training session at KMHD last week. It was fun! Despite having to get through it dragging this cold around, I enjoyed it... was able to get behind the board and engineer for the second half of Dave King's show. Looking forward to doing more on Saturday; if all goes according to plan, I should be announcing for the second half. (I hope I can kick this cold by then!)

Really looking forward to getting a permanent time-slot.

On that note (!), I'm also hoping to get connected with Deanna Witkowski, a friend of a former co-worker who is garnering acclaim as a Latin jazz pianist. Here is a link to her performance at the Mary Lou Williams Women In Jazz festival. She's sent a demo to our program director; I'm hoping that when she's on this side of the country that she'll be able to gig here in Portland.
