Woohoo! I passed the BSCMN, which means I'm one step closer to getting my CCNP. (And then.... the CCIE! Oh, the privilege of putting that laurel-encircled router logo on my business cards!)

Made a spurious trip to the Powell's in Beaverton (as long as I was in the neighborhood, right?) Walked away with an Oregon atlas, a guide to hikes in the Pacific NW, a photo essay by Jeff Brouws (Inside the Live Reptile Tent), I Thought My Father Was God (stories collected from NPR's national story project), and two novels: Ghostwritten, and Lizard. How's that for impulse shopping?

I'm amused by the microclimates in Portland... it's the sort of thing that seems to be much more common in the SF Bay area, but it happens here too, just with less frequency. In going from Beaverton to SE Portland, I passed through rain, fog, and sun. Is it any wonder that the "layered" clothing look is so popular here?
