And so it goes. At work on the Sunday before Memorial Day, trying to make progress on a couple of projects before Tuesday's release. The one extravagance I allowed myself this weekend was the purchase of a new pair of interconnects for the stereo. (Yeah, they're really just cables, but when you hang out on the audiophile websites too long, you start absorbing their terminology. I think they just use the word "interconnects" to justify the cost.) Used to be that I didn't think cables would make that much of a difference, but they really do! The same components sound entirely different with the new ones (Chord Solid 2s, if you're interested.) I'm guessing that the conductor metal is part of that. Silver is the best natural conductor... all them free electrons, dontcha know. Despite its rarity, gold actually comes in behind copper in terms of conductivity. It only tends to show up where corrosion or oxidation are potential issues, since it resists those better than either copper or silver.

Right now, I'm waiting for an archive to build... 60GB takes a while to move. I think I'm going to wander off and get a lovely iced coffee beverage, in the hopes that it will help the headache I'm having... caffeine withdrawl? Damn addictions.
